This course will begin with an introduction to insulation theory, specifically the meaning of R-value and the importance of the proper installation of vapor barriers. How this applies to residential applications will be identified. The course will cover the following major work processes: Job preparation, including the handling, transportation and storage of insulation materials, job organization and control, especially record keeping, inventory control, job orders, and estimates of quantity of material required, including blown in, batt and blanket insulation, and specialty products.
Hands-on training will include using the required hand tools to apply foam sealant, install batt insulation in floors, walls, and ceilings, and using proper baffling techniques at vent openings.
